Black & White: The eternally sexy classic
It’s just a fact. Monochrome (black & white) photography is just timeless. There’s something about it that just draws you in. The lack of color really makes you focus on the subject and lighting.
I started my photography journey 18 years ago with black and white film photography. While I photographed primarily landscapes (too bashful to ask people to pose for me at the time), I think it teaches you a lot as a photographer. How to evaluate the quality of light, using lighting to create interesting images and tell a story, using shadow and light. Once I began photographing real live humans, I learned how black and white can really complement skin texture and facial features. For this reason, I always include some black and white images as an option with every experience.
